In this post, I want to show you how easily you can optimize your blog post for Google with wordpress. I decided to do so in a video – it came out fantastic…. Not! Read on… LOL
Seriously, aside from a little annoying flickering, I think the content in the video itself is pretty good.
I recommend watching it in a full screen mode (click on the black square icon next to the volume control)
Enjoy : ) (Since it’s high resolution, it might take 20 seconds or more to load the video)

I did a blog post about traffic conversion on 1/18/2010. On 2/8/2010, my ranking was a 3rd place on the 1st page of Google (in about 3 weeks).

It didn’t stop there.
On 2/20/2010, despite the fast that competition got somewhat more intense, my post moved up to the No. 1 position in Google for “Web Design For Traffic Conversion” (in about 5 weeks).
This tells me that Google puts a lot of weight on a HTML title in terms of site rankings.

1. Remember, 5 steps to optimize blog post are:
- Compelling and optimized post title
- Permalink (post URL)
- Internal links (Use keywords for anchor text link and a rel=”nofollow” attribute)
- Meta Tags and HTML title
- Use of categories or tags
2. Once Google caches your page, I don’t recommend changing your permalink for your blog.
3. I prefer using categories over tags since its more natural way to show your keywords than tags which looks a little spammy to end users in my opinion.
Hope to see you at the top of Google. Sorry about flickers… that’s what I get for testing a free screen recording software
If you have any questions or comments, feel free to shoot them below…

Hey Shingo – great content in this video. Were you using Screen Toaster? I had the same problem when I downloaded and then re-uploaded the screen capture vid to my preferred player (in fact, I need to redo the one on my sales page)…but when I saved it to my screen toaster account and used their video player, it was crystal clear. You can set the video to private so that no one else can view it and then just embed it onto your site. The only downside is that you’re stuck using their player…
Anyways, thought I’d share that ‘cuz I think the video format is great for the more advanced techniques you’re sharing.

Hey Brad, thanks for mentioning Screen Toaster – I’ll check it out! I was using Camstudio, free but some limitations. I know camtasia studio is the best out there for windows, but also comes with the high price. Glad to know what’s out there and you liked the info in the vid. Talk to you later,
Shingo
Thanks for the video Shingo – I learned alot from it -and am LOVING my Intrepidity theme on my new blog.
Kent F.
Hi Kent, I’m currently working on additional themes and skins, but I will have more good content for you SOON!
thanks for the tips..
Hey Shingo,
Great post, however the flickering is VERY annoying…as you stated…lol!.
I have done hundreds of videos. I too experienced similar problems when my computer was NOT powerful enough to run Camtasia Studio (which I assume you are using). I have also used the free screen capture program http://www.camstudio.org
Here are a few thoughts to prevent it…
When shooting video capture, be sure to clear your system cookies, temp files, etc. (I use System Mechanic, but a free Program is C-Cleaner ) turn off all other applications and open as few other windows as possible while shooting. One way to do this, is by taking screenshots (I use Snag-it, but a free program is http://www.gadwin.com/printscreen) rather than visiting the site.
In any case, this may help with the flickering. Hope so….!

Hi Shingo,
I don’t know anything about Camstasia, but just wanted to thank you for the $0.00 dollar download of the WP theme (Intrepidity) and it’s just awesome!.
And thank you also for the Post Optimization tips.
NB I have been trying to get Google to notice my blog for years without success. Maybe this is the right time if any to get my financial adviser’s business on the fly.
